The Wilderness Health Society (WHS) of UMN, in collaboration with the University of Utah and AdventureMed, will be hosting an Advanced Wilderness Life Support Course at the Concordia Language Villages from 18-22 December 2007.

Advanced Wilderness Life Support

What: 17.5 hours of hands-on, practical wilderness medicine
Cost: $165 Students, $372 Non-Doctorals, $525 MD/DO
plus $150 for food, lodging and transportation on a coach bus)
(BYO bedding, towels and winter play gear)
Limit: 75 (MD, RN, and PA doctoral/students or EMTs or Paramedics)

Objectives:
-To provide a practical foundation in Wilderness Medicine for medical
professionals
-To teach patient assessment and treatment guidelines for life support
until definitive care or evacuation is available
-To train the provider in methods to manage medical and trauma
emergencies and urgencies in the wilderness when evacuation is
unavailable or unnecessary.
-To teach techniques and guidelines for evacuation
