For this meeting we are promoting several new Programs as well as some old ones.

New Programs

Support your Local Travel Agent
Dr Podolsky is preparing a report on the success of working with local Travel Agencies in Winnipeg for the International Society of Travel Medicine Society Meeting in Vancouver 2007.
Our city will be used as a model for other countries on creating good relations with the Travel Industry.

Support your local SCUBA shop
Skylark Clinic have prepared a pamphlet to advocate and suport local SCUBA stores in their training and certification of divers.
Having travellers complete a comprehensive course before traveling is one of the most effective ways to prevent diving injuries.

Winnipeggers Abroad Honorary Goodwill Ambassadors

We are compiling a list of Winnipeg businesswomen and men abroad to voluntary assist visiting Winnipegers traveling to where they are working
We have seen lots of businesses set up and wish to recognize these people and help them. At the same time it is reassuring to see someone from home and we all know Manitoba is a special place.
We plan to keep their contact information available for travelers though our website, and our office.
If you know someone you would like to nominate please speak with our staff.

Influenza Vaccinations "Flu at Work" We have finished our schedued on site influenza immunization clinics on site at various work sites.Th influenza season is not over yet and we still encourage individuals to get the flu shotif they have not yet.

We are scheduling Flu clinics for next Winter beginning in November. Because we dont always recieve the vaccination at the same time each year we are booking clinics in November only. It is possible that we will be doing clinics even earlier but will not schedule any until we actually have the 2006-7 flu vaccines.

Immunizations for other businesses

Food Industry

We will continue to offer our Hepatitis A for Restaurants program on an as needed basis. We have also joined the Manitoba Hotel and Manitoba Restaurant Associations and will have a booth at Centrex, their upcoming meeting. Our next Travel medicine Meeting  "Food Poisonings in Travelers " will have participants from the Food Industry as well as Medical and Allied Health. We are hoping that making closer ties with local businesses will help communicate certain ideas that are commonplace within the Food Industry for Travelers as well.

We have developed several new pamphlets- "Safe Sea Food", "Safe Oysters", "Approach to Food Poisoning Outbreaks" were developed from information from both the FDA and Canadian Restaurant Assciation.

We have also met with the Manitoba Chefs and Cooks Association and hope to affiliate ourselves as a corporate member and attend their weekly meetings.

Allied Beauty Association

We plan on exhibiting at their annual meeting. we have developed 2 new pamphlets targeted for Anethetists and Body Artists emphasizing blood borne diseases such as hepatitis B.

Red River College

We are continuing our year round immunization of Health care Aides and Nursing Students.

Feb 24th Dr Podolsky will give a lecture at the college "How Immunizations Improve our Lives" and "Debunking Anti-Vaccinationists".
