We are pleased to announce a general invitation to our upcoming continuing medical education symposium on Clean Water Health.


This year our annual Travel Medicine Meeting will concentrate on issues pertaining to Health and Water.
This meeting is free and will take place at the University of Manitoba Plant Science Building on 2 consequitive Thursday evevnings (April 12th and 19th)
The focus of all of our talks will also show how local, regional and Provincial Water Health also ties in with Global Travel and a Tropical medicine Health.
It will be accredited for 3 M2 Hrs  for each session

Walkerton- An Overview and Summary Dr Greg Blank
Dr Blank teaches at the University Food Science Department and will examine the walkerton water crisis from a critical perspective and comment on how our Canadian water health is monitores.
This is our ketnote lecture and the issues he will be raising will also be examined by our other speakers

Engineering Safe Water-Engineers without Borders  Ms Laura Robson.
Laura is a 4th year engineer student and will be explaining ow the relatively new group, Engineers without Borders has developed intoone of the largest Student based NGOs and initiated and maintains several water developement projects. Approaching sustainabe development from an engineers perspective.

Water precautions/ treatment methods in Travelers  Dr Gary Podolsky
Review of current and upcoming methods of personal water purification techniques available for travelers.


April 19th 630-830pm
Schistosomiasis and Swimmers itch  Margeaux Baunemann RN
Margeaux will give an overview to compare and contrast swimmer's itch, found in many canadian links and a nuisance problem with the more serious Schistosomiasis aquired through international water activities. Contrasting the common relations between both and suggesting methods of prevention for both situations.

Rashes associated with Water  Dr Richard Haydey Dermatologist
Richard will examne the role of water in the etiology of many dermatoses, including marine envenomations

Water and Insects Dr Terry Galloway Entomology
Dr Galloway a University entmologist will discuss the role of water in the habitat and maintenance of medically important insects.
