Virus transmitted by midges present in Peru, Brazil, Trinidad and
Panama.
Natural
reservoir is the sloth. Symptoms include headache, fever, aches,
nausea, vomiting and sometimes meningitis.
Blood
tests confirm the diagnosis although no specific treatment exists.
