Medicine for Mountaineers 4 th ed. Edited by James A Wilkerson Published by the Mountaineers

This is one of my favourite books on Medicine and when originally published was an as first in Medicine, as it described a lot of Altitude medical situations clearly for a broad audience. Recently Dr Wilkerson asked me to write a short talk on Helicopter evacuations and I still went back to his text for the best source. This book is a must for anyone intending to travel on a mountaineering trip or even trekking. It is succinct and portable and should read before an expedition but may be carried as a handy reference manual. I have seen several editions but the 4 th is the one I own. The most recent edition is still easily available.
